Since July 2024, I have served as a chaplain with Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 44 in Port Angeles, Washington. The Auxiliary is a voluntary support service, separate from my earlier active-duty Air Force service.

Chaplain support means being available when someone needs a listening ear, a word of hope, or quiet support during a difficult moment. It is a voluntary commitment focused on care, presence, and referral to appropriate resources.

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is a voluntary support service. My role as a chaplain is to accompany people, honor conscience, and help connect members and families with appropriate care and resources.

03 / AUXILIARY CHAPLAIN SUPPORT

Expanding care across the Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard formally established its Auxiliary Chaplain Support program in 2016. The first six Auxiliary chaplains were appointed in 2017. The program exists to supplement—never replace—active-duty Coast Guard chaplains by extending religious ministry to members and families wherever needs arise.

Qualified Auxiliary chaplains bring professional ministry experience, local knowledge, and the flexibility of dedicated volunteers to the wider Coast Guard family.
